about
MakeShare?
MakeShare was built by local creatives for other local creatives. The MakeShare concept was developed based on an apparent need for one shared platform, needed to showcase the work of local artists (of all kinds) through a beautiful website, creative directory, local online store, funding platform and eventually through live events/markets and an Annual Arts + Culture Magazine.
MakeShare is a Member-Powered Creative Community, a one-of-a-kind Local Arts Hub and Creative Network, that collectively creates a viable, resilient and entrepreneurial community local of creators, makers and innovators.
Our unique Memberships invoke an intentional community force, where individuals come together under a shared vision and stoke innovation, collaboration, co-develop new opportunities and share resources.

Our Mission

the team
Amanda’s 20+ years in the Arts proved to her an apparent need for one central Arts Hub: a place where local creatives (of all kinds) could be beautifully represented, showcase their service/work/products/art, find and share resources, make connections, develop partnerships + collaborations, support one another, find funding opportunities, and be part of a cool creative community.
And so, MakeShare “was born”!

Amanda Smith | MakeShare Founder
In early years, Amanda found beauty in her natural surroundings as well as through her vivid imagination, where she eventually realized that her visions could be turned into creations of her own devices.
Amanda’s love of culture and curiosity about the world was fulfilled through her 5 years working on the production team of the ICA’s FolkFest, where she worked with a dynamic team, to produce a multi-venue 10 day international festival, that attracted an attendance of 500,000 and where she coordinated a team of over 1000 volunteers!
This work showed Amanda that the things she loved (food, dance, music, art + craft) really did have the power to unite and bring people together, through creative expression and celebration.
Amanda continued working in the Arts + Community-Building by developing the Victoria Event Centre, where she soon become the Director, growing and managing the multi-purpose Arts space for 10 years.
Amanda’s role as Victoria City Organizer for PechaKucha fulfills her desire to shine a light on local creators + innovators and to invite people to “take the stage” OR their seat in the audience, to share in a special experience.
In producing 19 volumes of PechaKucha Night Victoria, Amanda has invited over 200 people to present on a wide range of topics: art, film, photography, design, performance, travel, environment, architecture, music, illustration, building, poetry, theatre, writing, food, story-telling……
Amanda’s passion for the environment and food melded through her work with the Get Fresh Guide, which has recently manifested into Local Folk Markets (market for local food/drink producers + artisans).
