bio
Founded in 2010, the Mexican Canadian Community Association of Canada (MCAoC)exists to support and promote Mexican and Latino culture in Victoria BC. The Association provides support and helps connect recent Mexican immigrants to support systems and communities, such as the Inter-Cultural Association and Victoria Immigrant + Refugee Society.
MCAoC has produced a wide variety of cultural events, celebrations and concerts over the past 21 years. Most notably the Latin Caribbean Festival (which ran for 17 years) and the Annual Festival Mexicano, a free Festival that offers 2 days of fabulous cultural programming, including dance + live music performances, dance + cooking classes, artisan and food vendors and lots of family fun!
This year marks the 16th Annual Festival Mexicano, and for the 2nd year in a row, the Festival will be operating outside of it’s regular home of Centennial Square, and “taking to the streets”.
The hope is to return to a 2-day public Festival in 2022, but looks forward to touring around to key locations in Victoria and out to the Saanich Peninsula on Aug 8th, with an open-air double decker bus, with pop-up performances from the Mexican Folklore Dancers + Mariachi Los Dorados! More details will be posted here and via their SM page ~ stay tuned!
