Rachel Jones is the artist behind Friday Fibres. Growing up in Alberta, Rachel dabbled in many textile arts including sewing, embroidery, bracelet making, cross stitching, and knitting throughout her childhood and into her high school years. After moving to Victoria and working various jobs, it was easy to put creative hobbies on the back burner ~ until lockdown hit in 2020.
While laid-off, she decided to buy a weaving kit and teach herself to weave. Finding her niche in weaving, she fell in love with the creative freedom this art form gave her. Rachel decided to start selling her weavings to free up wall space and fund her ever-growing yarn collection. Since then, Friday Fibres has become a full-fledged small business, with pieces appearing in a holiday market at Bilston Creek Farm, at the Local Folk Fair (at Sea Cider), a pop-up at Haultain Corners and most recently in the Esquimalt Urban Arts Tour.
