Emily is a silversmith and illustrator currently living in Victoria, BC. While she dedicates most of her spare time to making jewellery and drawing plants, she dabbles in almost everything ~ including sewing, woodwork, photography and writing. She spent most of her career in women’s accessories design and production development, working alongside several ethical manufacturing companies in Uganda. As a new-ish Victorian, she’s excited to connect with the local arts community and find opportunities for collaboration.

Emily grew up in southern California and studied painting and photography. She was actively involved in building the maker movement in San Diego as a founding member of the Handmade Revolution (a creative collective) and worked at the Make Good, a boutique dedicated to showcasing the work of local artisans on both sides of the border. Her illustrations and writing were featured in independent publications such as Darling Magazine, the Manor House Quarterly and the Walloon Writer’s Review.
In 2010, she moved to Kampala, Uganda and designed jewellery, sandals and leather goods for ethical manufacturing companies Ember Arts and Sseko Designs. She worked as a product design consultant through her project Zwervend, and partnered with independent local artisans to improve their branding and marketability. She also developed jewellery production capabilities for Purpose Jewelry in Uganda, and helped build ethical global supply chains in various countries in East Africa and throughout Asia.
She relocated to Victoria after almost a decade in Uganda, and when 2020 turned her world upside-down, she began focusing on her own creative work for the first time in many years.
